Senior Accountant

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice accountant to join a growing accountancy firm in North Shields.

The firm is looking for a well-rounded Accounts Senior who enjoys variety and wants to work across accounts, tax and bookkeeping rather than becoming too specialised.

You’ll work closely with a broad range of clients, taking responsibility for their day-to-day accounting requirements while continuing to develop your technical and client-facing skills.

The Role

• Preparing year-end statutory accounts
• Working with limited companies, partnerships and sole traders
• Preparing corporation tax computations and returns
• Supporting clients with personal tax matters where required
• Completing bookkeeping assignments
• Preparing and reviewing VAT returns
• Producing management accounts where required
• Working directly with clients to resolve accounting queries
• Maintaining accurate accounting records
• Supporting clients with their ongoing compliance requirements
• Building strong, long-term relationships with clients
• Working closely with Managers and Directors on more complex assignments

There is no requirement to undertake audit work, making this particularly suitable for someone who wants to develop their career within accounts and general practice.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Around 3–4+ years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice
• AAT Level 4 qualification, or be studying towards ACA/ACCA
• Strong experience preparing year-end accounts
• Good working knowledge of corporation tax
• Bookkeeping and VAT experience
• Experience dealing directly with clients
• Good communication and organisational skills
• The ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
• A proactive and dependable approach
